Now that we’ve finished our master bathroom reveal I want to share how we found a custom vanity top on a budget. After two years of living with this hideous 1986 plastic counter thing, I’m sure you can understand why I was so excited to pick a new one.
Holiday pillows are a quick and easy way to decorate your home. Switching out your pillow covers is less expensive than buying brand new pillows every season, plus who has room to store stacks of pillows?
I’m finishing up the final preps for Thanksgiving and wanted to add place cards to our table setting. They are quick and easy and really give your table a personal touch. The pumpkins are totally optional! If you don’t have time to get those, just use the tent cards as stand alone name cards. So simple!
Thanksgiving is less than a week away and I’m busy making my final table decorations. Our three boys will all be here for dinner and I couldn’t be more excited! I love Christmas, but there is something about Thanksgiving that is so special. For me, having the family here without the added pressure of shopping for gifts makes it a more peaceful holiday.I plan to do some very simple things to dress up the table. In the meantime I thought I would show you some of the fall décor around the house.
If you’re obsessed with homes and décor you probably notice every movie homeSometimes I lose track of the plot because I’m swooning over their wainscoting, wall color or most often the kitchen. I definitely have favorite houses, so I decided to “build” my dream home from the rooms in each house I love. Of course we have no budget for this house!
When we moved into the house this room was actually a formal style living room. As you can see there is a family room across the hall, and we also have a finished basement, so we decided to make this into a giant dining room. I’ve never understood two living rooms across from each other. Are people going to shout over to each other from different couches watching different TV’s? Anyway, here are some before and after pics of our new dining room.
When you think about vinyl flooring I know you envision that tacky stuff from the 70’s, but it really has changed so much.
When we moved into our home in 2014 there was carpet in the master bathroom vanity area. Who puts carpet in a bathroom? Hint: Everyone in 1986. ICK!!! We tore it up and planned to replace it right away but got sidetracked by other projects (you know, the ones visitors would see). We lived with that sub-floor for a very long time.
Picking paint is a nightmare for so many people, including me! So many paint cards, so little time!! I cannot go into a hardware store, look at the endless wall of paint swatches and pick a color. I really need to see the paint in a furnished room, magazine, or catalog to know if I like it. I swoon over the colors in Pottery Barn catalogs, which are carried at Sherwin Williams but at $50 a gallon they are too much for me! Then I discovered how people are getting Pottery Barn Paint at Home Depot Prices!
