Hello! I am happy to be back guest posting at Centsible Chateau. This is my absolute favorite time of year. I love looking at all the Holiday Home Tours and am so inspired by the amazing talent in the blogging world! One of the things I see everywhere this season is some variation of a little red truck. I’m sure you’ve seen them around. Pier 1 has a dinnerware collection, Target has an adorable line with little red truck pillows and centerpiece trucks. I was browsing the Dollar Store and stumbled upon the most adorable little red truck Christmas gift bag. I had one of those aha moments and bought not only that bag but several other adorable gift bags as well. Let me show you the finished gift bag sign and then I’ll share a super simple tutorial.
Little Red Truck Wood Sign
Dollar Store Holiday Gift Bag
I’ll be showing you how to make an embroidery hoop project using a holiday gift bag as well.
Simply cut out the front part of the gift bag to fit the size of the plaque. I picked up this really cute farmhouse style distressed sign at Michaels using a 50% off coupon so it was $1.99. It already had twine for hanging. Next, use the foam brush to add Mod Podge to both the back of the gift bag and the wood sign.
Finally, just seal it with another coat of Mod Podge and you are done! See how simple that was. Now this little red truck can be used in so many different ways. You can add it to a shelf as shown here:
Or you can attach it to a wreath shown here:
I love it on the wreath! How cute would this look hanging on your front door?
Embroidery Hoop Winter Scene
For the embroidery hoop just cut the gift bag out to fit the size of the hoop. Again, just add hot glue to the inside of the hoop and attach the cut out gift bag. The great thing is the gift bags are double sided so you can make 2 projects from one bag. So literally it is about 50 cents plus whatever you want to place it on. You can’t beat that and the possibilities are endless!
There are beautiful gift bags out there and not just for Christmas. The next time you are at the Dollar Store or even the craft store take a look at the gift bags and think about what you could make with them. I found this cute Christmas Camper gift bag and plan to make a pallet wood sign for my Dad who loves camping. Stay tuned for that!
