Hello I’m Michelle from OurCraftyMom.com and thanks for welcoming me to Centsible Chateau. Now that all the Christmas decorations are packed away, the house is feeling a little bare. So I decided to make a DIY Valentine’s Day Love Sign using just a few supplies. While red is pretty for Valentine’s Day, this year I am planning to decorate my mantel in a pink, gold and white color scheme. Here is what I made:

Don’t you just love the gorgeous angel wings? They were a steal after Christmas at Michael’s! Let me show you how I made this sign:
Easy to Make DIY Valentine’s Day Love Sign
DecoArt Metallic Paint Copper
DecoArt Premium Paint White
Country Chic Paint Vintage in Cupcake Color
Copper Vinyl or Sharpie Paint Pen
Start by alternating shades of pink and white using the foam brush. I like to use foam brushes as they are inexpensive, but also they provide good coverage. Here is a tip with painting-if you are not able to finish the project, wrap the brush in plastic wrap and when you are ready the brush will be perfectly fine to use. I wanted some of the wood to show through so I only used one coat of paint.
Don’t worry about it being perfect yet, you can go back in and touch it up at the end. Next, we move on to the gorgeous metallic paint that I am pretty obsessed with. Look how gorgeous this shade is:
This copper metallic paint really pops against the pink and white. I use a small brush for this so I don’t overlap onto the other colors.
Now you can go back and touch up any spots that you missed or that have some overlaps. Tip-use q-tips for hard to reach areas like corners and to touch up the sides. It really works!
For the love text, I used my Cricut, but if you don’t have one there are several other options. You can use a stencil, or if you have nice handwriting, you can use a sharpie paint pen. My handwriting is not pretty, so the Cricut is something I use often. The copper adhesive vinyl is a perfect match to the copper paint!
I tend to change things up a lot, so another thing I like about using this vinyl is it can easily be removed and changed out with another saying.
