We have really long dreary dark winters in Upstate NY, so I was cheering myself up looking at ideas for interior and exterior spring decor. Every year I pretend I’m going to have a green thumb and spend about $10,000(ok, maybe $100) on outdoor plants that I proceed to rapidly kill. Last summer I was somewhat successful at keeping succulents and some herbs alive. I found keeping things in containers is better for me,and I can move them when the rabbits and deer are after them. Plus let’s be honest I’m not putting my hands in dirt garden beds. So with pots you can pour the dirt in, put in the plant and be done. That’s my kind of gardening! I love galvanized decor, and the metal pots look amazing with foliage in them. They also get a really cool vintage patina on them when they are outside.

Using vintage metals doesn’t have to be limited to plants though, there are so many cute things to create the farmhouse look all around your home. You can keep utensils in them, use them for adorable storage containers and add them to cute vignette’s like this.
I used these cute little galvanized tins on my farmhouse shelves with some boxwood in them.

Luckily, I don’t have to wait for spring to decorate inside. I think I have a long time to dream of warm weather before it actually happens here. That gives me plenty of time to once again convince myself I will be a gardener. 😉
