Hello! Michelle back from Our Crafty Mom. Today, I’ll show you how to make a Farmhouse Style Tiered Tray for under $25! The key to keeping the cost down is to use cake pans either from a thrift store or a craft store with a coupon. I lucked out while shopping at Michael’s and saw all the baking pans were 50% off, so no coupon needed. Really, if you check goodwill or find these pans on clearance you could make this for under $10.
Let me show you how easily this farmhouse style tray comes together.

Easily Make A Farmhouse Style Tiered Tray
Supplies
10″ Cake Pan
8″ Cake Pan (2)
Dollar Store Candle Sticks (3)
Black Acrylic Paint
E-6000 Adhesive
First you need to age the pans to get rid of the shiny metal. I searched on Pinterest for ways to age metal and this process seemed to be the easiest way. You mix a cup of rubbing alcohol, a cup of vinegar and two tablespoons of salt. I read somewhere that adding copper pennies may also help, but honestly I think my pennies were too new, so I would eliminate those.
Next you can either use a spray bottle to add the solution to the pans, or brush it on like I did. I let it sit for a few hours and you can see how the salt begins to distress the pan.
To achieve the galvanized look we are going for, use black acrylic paint sparingly over the entire pan. I just used an old rag, but you can also use a foam brush.
To make the tiered tray, I used Dollar Store candlesticks and painted them with a coat of white glass paint, then covered them in the same black acrylic paint.
For this type of project, I find E-6000 works best. You can find it at most craft stores, or order it on Amazon. Add it to the bottom of each candlestick and let it sit overnight to make sure it is secure enough to use.
There are so many ways to use tiered trays. Here I decorated it for Spring:
